Day 1-Albuquerque

Albuquerque is a unique opportunity that every person connected with ballooning needs to experience sometime in their lifetime. This morning we left the hotel shortly after 5 am local time. The traffic was not too bad till we got within a few miles of the balloon field. Thereafter, it was bumper to bumper traffic and we spent nearly an hour just trying to crawl our way the few remaining miles to the balloon field. Dawn patrol and the briefing occur simultaneously. Because of the predominant wind direction from south to north and our launch spot location on the far north end of the field), we were one of the first balloons in the air (after the ride balloons). This meant that I spent most of the time chasing, and not taking many photos. Below are a few shots from this morning.

Dawn Patrol.

Mass Ascension.

Here are some of the balloons that followed us.

Rich at landing.

Ken Walters landed at the same site as we did, doesn't his new balloon look great?!

Tailgating after the flight.

Margareta machine for the tailgate.
