Unfortunately, the perfect severe weather set up developed across Iowa on the May 25 resulting in numerous tornadoes across the state. One of these tornadoes was particularly strong, tracking for over 40 miles on the ground and destroying portions of Parkersburg and New Hartford. This tornado was rated EF-5 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale. This is the first F5 tornado in the state of Iowa since the Jordan IA tornado on June 13, 1976.
